International Competitions
Through AIEC – World University Equestrian Federation international student equestrian competitions are also organized around the world. These are held over a weekend and include everything from serious competition to crazy student partying. Usually, one is organized approximately every two months, and Sweden has sent participants to most of them in the past year. In order to participate, it is required that you are a member of one of Sweden’s student equestrian associations and that you register your interest in the desired competition. The team is then selected based on merit and actively shown interest. If you are not selected as a rider, you can always join as a supporter, which is highly recommended, as these competitions are something you just have to experience as a student rider!
All student rider competitions, except the LARS Cups, are team competitions. You are a team of three riders who are allocated three horses by lottery. The team gets to choose who rides which horse. Two other teams are assigned the same horses, then the best on each horse moves on to the next round. The number of rounds and degree of difficulty varies, but in the end there are only two finalists left who then compete against each other, preferably on two horses.
